Weatherboard Homes

Melbourne's northern suburbs are home to thousands of timber weatherboard houses, from Victorian-era cottages in Coburg and Brunswick to mid-century homes in Reservoir and Bundoora. Weatherboard painting requires specific expertise — the timber expands and contracts with temperature and humidity changes, demanding paint systems with superior flexibility. Our process includes:

For brick painting or rendering, we prepare surfaces with professional pressure washing, repair any deteriorated mortar joints, apply specialist masonry primer, and finish with breathable exterior masonry paint that allows moisture to escape while preventing rain penetration.

Rendered Surfaces

Rendered facades — common on homes from the 1980s onwards — require paint systems that can bridge hairline render cracks. We use elastomeric paint products with crack-bridging capability, ensuring that minor render movement does not telegraph through the new paint film. For rendered homes with existing cracking, we fill and stabilise cracks with flexible products before applying primer and topcoats.

Melbourne's Seasonal Painting Guide

Spring (September–November): The ideal season. Mild temperatures, moderate humidity, and longer days create perfect painting conditions. Book early — this is our busiest period.

Summer (December–February): Excellent for most of the season, but we avoid extreme heat days above 35°C when paint dries too rapidly and cannot form a proper film. Our crews start early and work with the shade.

Autumn (March–May): Another excellent window. Settled weather and comfortable temperatures. A great time for exterior projects before winter arrives.

Winter (June–August): Interior painting continues year-round. Exterior work is possible during dry, mild periods but requires careful weather monitoring and longer drying times between coats.

The warranty is in addition to the paint manufacturer's product warranty, which typically provides ten to fifteen years of coverage for premium exterior products. We maintain detailed records of every product used on your project, making any future warranty claims straightforward.

Maintaining Your Exterior Paint

To maximise the life of your exterior paint between repaints: - Wash painted surfaces annually with mild detergent and a soft brush to remove accumulated grime, mould, and pollution - Address any chips, cracks, or peeling paint promptly — small touch-ups prevent larger problems - Keep garden vegetation trimmed at least 150mm away from painted surfaces to allow air circulation - Clear gutters regularly to prevent overflow staining on walls - Re-caulk around windows and doors if you notice gaps developing
